CAN, in collaboration with Eddie Blake, designed a shortlisted proposal for the Tooley Street Open Competition, organized by the London Festival of Architecture (LFA) in London Bridge.

The temporary architectural pavilion acts as a civic gateway and active wayfinding installation designed to relieve pedestrian congestion and redirect foot traffic away from polluted arterial roads toward the cleaner Thames riverside path.

Raised elevated on a colonnade of timber mooring posts, the structure keeps the narrow street pavement entirely free of ground obstructions, featuring a dynamic chainmail theatre curtain and a scrolling digital LED sign that displays real-time pedestrian directions, public environmental data, and community welcome messages. Inspired by the theatrical heritage of the Southwark riverbank, the pavilion uses tactile chainmail drapery to create a high-visibility visual marker, meeting point, and urban intervention within a complex, disorienting transport hub, introducing playfulness and social value to a historically neglected site.
